watching the Israel-Lebanon situation

Having Haifa hit and Israeli citizens killed is a bad escalation. We are listening to NPR news reports hourly.

If, as CNN is reporting, there is the possibility that the rocket contains parts from Syria and/or Iran, this is bad.

The Rapture folks are going nuts with delight. The 'End Times' scenario is playing out, right before their eyes. Osama bin Laden, if still alive, must be shaking his head with astonishment, that everything he has desired is coming to fruition, with the US and Israel on one side, and everyone else on the other. It's no accident that chess came from Islamic Persia.

We saw 'An Inconvenient Truth' last night, in a largely empty theater in Tigard (the 'Joy', not the cineplex). It was almost as good as seeing Gore deliver that presentation live, as we did a while back, but it's a forceful film and needs to be seen.

One would think that even doubters would look at this and resolve to act, on the 'small chance' that it is correct.

The doubters have their brains filled up by Fox News. They wanna feel secure, safe & in-control, and Fox gives it to them---kinda like Hitler, give the starving pre-war Germans a target to scapegoat and that'll make all their problems go away.
I just got done working with a fellow, extremely sharp, but very religious and ready for the Rapture. All the "Left Behind" stuff. How can a smart person do that, except for fear of the unknown?

When it comes to organized (i.e. for profit) religion, they have nothing to Sell but Fear Itself.

The 2nd oldest profession.

We saw 'An Inconvenient Truth' here in Tampa a couple of weeks ago. The theatre was FULL and folks had to be asked to come to a later showing. In Florida, of all places! :) ...There is hope, my friends. AND last night on the Discovery Channel, Tom Brocaw hosted a 2-hr special about global warming. There was a LOT of repetition (including some of the same pics and graphs and references) vs Al Gore's movie ....and that's good. The more the mainstream media gets the word out to people that we ARE affecting our planet and we CAN affect things in a good way ...the better.

Now as for the Rapture folks ...oy! The willingness of so many to suspend rational thought, to abandon personal responsibility, to divorce their hearts from compassion for innocent lives lost ...it is more than I can fathom, yet it seems to be so rampant.
