the world has to end sooner or later... but isn't it funny that our doomsday fantasies used to be centered around a lack of oil?
The Earth definitely has a sense of irony here.
For those of us who have already eschewed cars, enormous houses, global travel, fancy clothing and other trappings of a lifestyle that requires us to pretend a mindless affluence we've never had, this is NOT NEWS. The only news is that my family and friends who think I'm crackpot still don't fully get it, or want to.
I want to see how many folks still have their heads in the sand a year from now.

Yes, it's not news to those of us who are paying attention, and I get your point about seeing where public opinion goes in another year.
